Explore Victorian Norwich on this new two-hour walking tour with guide, Paul Dickson, starting on Saturday 5 April at 10am. Celebrate the city’s 19th century architecture, industry, shopping and culture. But also consider the poor housing conditions in the Courts and Yards. Hear about the growth of Colman’s Mustard, Caley’s Chocolate, the Norwich Union and the shoe industry.
The tour also includes a visit to Bowhill and Elliott on London Street, . Founded in 1874, Bowhill and Elliott is Norwich’s last surviving shoe manufacturer, creating fabulous Albert slippers, dress slippers and house slippers.
The tour starts on the steps in front of The Forum(NR2 1TF) and finishes at the beautiful art nouveau Royal Arcade, which opened in May 1899.
